Located in the the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York, Stony Brook is a hamlet with a population of a little over 14,000. Its character and charm are mainly a result of the work Ward Melville did - he turned the local fishing community into a model New England Village, complete with white clapboard, quaint shops and Colonial Williamsburg homes. In addition, the Long Island Museum of America Art, History and Carriages is considered to be one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. and has nearly 200 types of horse drawn carriages.
